Challenges that had to be overcome
Because the bridge is so old we wanted to be careful how much extra load we put on this structure. This included the load of scaffold, workers and tools, as well as the wind loading that was created by encapsulating the scaffold.
To get around this we used aluminum scaffold and carried out the works phases to try be as sympathetic to the structure as possible.
Project Manager/Project Statement
Working on old structures like this is always challenging, and the goal is to be as sympathetic to the structure as possilble.
With the use of light weight aluminum scaffold and carefully planned phasing we were able carry out the works safely with minimal extra stress on the structure.
